The Top 101 Disney Characters of All-Time (50-41)

It is officially the top 50 characters now! This is where they start getting really good! Before we continue I'm going to do a quick recap. There are no people on this countdown or characters that turn into people just the characters from Disney. No Star Wars. No Marvel. Toys are ok.

50. Squirt

Squirt is one of many of Crush's kids, but the only one you know the name of. He is a huge character in Finding Nemo. Personally, he is my second favorite character from the movie. However, he is not as popular as his dad or any of the three fish. He fits in perfectly by kicking off our Top 50 characters. "You so totally rock Squirt."

49. Jessie

This is the first controversial member of the countdown because no humans were allowed. However, I did clearly say that toys were ok. I debated several times whether to include Jessie, Woody, and Buzz and decided they should be included. This is where Jessie fits in for me, simply because she was not in the 1st movie and isn't as iconic as Buzz or Woody. As the 3rd main character though, I could have easily argued her in the top 20. This top 50 is loaded, but Jessie still deserves a spot.

48. Pascal

A part of me wanted to put Pascal up near the Top 10. While he isn't one of the two main characters, he was Rapunzel's loyal companion the whole movie. He adds so much to the movie and is a completely lovable character. He belongs in the Top 50 after his brilliance in Tangled and will be higher next time if he sees more appearances.

47. Darkwing Duck

"Let's Get Dangerous!" Darkwing Duck had to be on this list and he had to be Top 50. The question is how high on that Top 50. He originally was just outside my top 10, but I realized that many kids today don't know him because his show isn't on anymore. He was awesome on that show and Disney should bring him back. He would be top 25 if more people knew him, but he clearly deserves top 50 status.

46. Kaa

Kaa was another hard character to rank. He was one of the most memorable character in Walt Disney's last movie and in the kid show Jungle Cubs. However, he can't be ranked higher than Baloo, King Louie, Bagheera, or Shere Khan so being the 5th ranked Jungle Book character is appropriate. The question then becomes where should the 5th ranked character be ranked. This is about where he should be, give or take a few spots. He'll tell you to trust him that he should be higher, but I think #46 is appropriate.

45. Mushu

<Mushu is the most memorable character from Mulan unless you count the title character. He is her guardian and closest companion throughout the series. This guy is witty, hilarious, and just plain awesome. Just like everyone else in the Top 50, you could argue higher, but he is a perfect fit for #45.

44. Thumper

The only character more popular than Thumper in Bambi was Bambi. He is beloved by millions and easily a top 50 character. I personally do not have Bambi as a top 25 Disney movie and couldn't put this guy higher as a result, but many think its a top 10 movie all-time. Many people would have Thumper and Bambi as Top 10 characters, but not happening in this countdown.

43. Bambi

Bambi is one of the most iconic Disney characters. However, as mentioned in the Thumper summary, his movie is the worst of any movie recognized with a Top 50 character. Therefore, he cannot be any higher than this for me. I understand the Top 10 argument, but don't buy into it. Bambi is a perfect fit at #43 and huge in the Disney Universe, but no higher than 43.

42. Nala

Nala is the best friend and future wife of Simba in The Lion King. She could easily be ranked Top 15 in the entire Disney Universe. This is where it gets much tougher to rank though and I have her #42. I have 6 characters in that movie ahead of Nala which drops her to #42. You could argue her up to number 2 in the movie, but it is really hard. Easy to argue her into the top 5 from the movie, but hard to argue higher than 4th. You will see why. Nala is a fantastic character and included in the Top 45, but not higher than this.

41. Bagheera

Bagheera is Mowgli's guide and friend in the Jungle Book, but he is the third most popular animal in the movie. The movie can't succeed without him and I would like to see him higher, but wait until you see what remains on this list. This is a well deserved spot for Bagheera. He is one of the more influential Disney characters and deserves the top 50 spot. Responsible, reasonable, but most of all awesome! Everyone loves this panther.
