Before we begin part 4 of the countdown. Please by all means catch up on what you missed.
Now, that you are caught up here are characters 70-61!
70. Pegasus
Pegasus is of course, Hercules' legendary winged horse. This character is a loyal companion who accompanies Hercules on his journey to "go the distance" as a real hero. He is a great character as a baby and an adult, but the baby Pegasus is considered to be cute by many. In Disney stuffed animals, he is one of the few to always be featured as a baby character. You almost never see an adult Pegasus stuffed animal.
69. Brer Rabbit
I originally had Brer Rabbit in my top 25. Splash Mountain is my favorite ride at Magic Kingdom and he is the star of that movie. However, much like Brer Fox and Brer Bear he dropped a bit because younger people who haven't been to Disney World do not know this character. Some ride Splash Mountain and still don't make the connection. Those factors stopped him from being higher, but those of us that do know this character love him and absolutely think he is one of the greatest Disney characters.
68. Slinky Dog
I personally call Slinky Dog "slink" and he is usually referred to that in the characters, but he is absolutely a top 70 character. This toy dog is my personal favorite dog in all of Disney, but I wanted to be fair to the main dogs of Disney (Goofy and Pluto). He is part of Pixar's biggest hit "Toy Story" and is primed for a fourth movie in the near future. Slink is one of the mainstays and you could argue him as the 3rd biggest character from the series. I got him as the 8th best character from the series, but you could argue as high as 3rd.
67. Chesire Cat
Some would say that this is too high for the Chesire Cat, especially since he is higher than the White Rabbit, but you should see how many people love this character. Some think he is a top 10 character and he is many people's favorites. You should see some of the hats and clothes people wear depicting this one that we have seen across Disney World. He is also featured prominently at the Celebrate the Magic show at the Magic Kingdom. This odd character belongs on the countdown this high.
66. Remy
Remy is the wannabe chef during the movie Ratatouille. He is a rat, but he can cook as well as anyone. This rat belongs on the countdown and many would have him higher. When you think about it and what he adds to the story, there aren't many Disney characters that had a bigger impact. He carries the whole movie and the movie was pretty successful. He'd be higher if everyone knew his name though. That's the one drawback, most people just know he is a rat.
65. Hamm
I had a hard time deciding if Hamm or Slink was the bigger character, but went with Hamm because of his versatility. Andy often makes Hamm evil Dr.Porckchop and Hamm often questions Woody throughout the movies unlike other characters (besides Potato Head). He is a wise-cracking piggy bank that adds some life to the Toy Story series.
64. J. Thaddeus Toad
J. Thaddeus Toad is better known to most of us as Mr. Toad. This character was huge in the World of Disney pre-2000 and has disappeared more in recent years. He played a role in Mickey's Christmas Carol, had his own ride at Disney and was a very beloved character who was easily top 50. However, Disney realized that he wasn't as marketable as some other characters, his ride was replaced by Winnie the Pooh and his star has faded a bit. He still belongs at this point in the countdown, but he needs to be used again to gain some traction with the younger audience.
I don't like to pair characters together, but this seems like the obvious first pairing of the countdown. The two characters that are so linked that even the movie title bears their name. While Tramp is the slightly better character, what people remember about this movie is the love story. They especially remember the one spaghetti scene where the dog's kiss. That scene is one of the most memorable in history, and not just Disney history. Everyone knows that scene.
61. Hopper
Hopper is a top 10 Disney Villain easily whether people will admit it or not. I personally have him as the 4th best Disney Villain, but I know Bug's Life wasn't as popular as some other movies and some wouldn't dare have him that high. However you look at it though, you realize that Hopper played a huge role in A Bug's Life and that he plays a huge role in the show at Animal Kingdom. Hopper definitely belongs on this list and would be in the top 30 of my favorite characters.
